Meet Sam – Your Safety Tram Guide!

Hi there! I’m Sam – the friendly face of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3.

I'm here to help you learn how to move safely around trams as we head towards passenger services starting in 2026.

The new light rail corridor is changing how we move around the Gold Coast, so whether you are walking to school, riding your bike, catching a tram, or driving with your family, I’ve got tips, tools, and games to help you stay alert.

Bringing tram safety to our community

As part of the Stage 3 Safety Tram campaign, Sam the Tram made special visits to Miami State High School and Burleigh Heads State School, engaging students and the wider community in interactive safety learning. Students explored tram safety through hands‑on activities and discussions and meeting our friendly Safety Tram character, Sam. The Stage 3 project team shared practical tips on how to stay safe on and around the light rail, while students completed safety challenges and enjoyed the chance to win fun prizes.
