for Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3

Thank you to everyone who applied for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 Community Benefit Fund.  Applications closed on Friday 1 March 2024.

The review process is underway, and applicants will be advised of the outcome by mid-2024.

The Community Fund for Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 is set up to support valuable grassroots initiatives along the project alignment from Broadbeach south to Burleigh.

This fund is designed to give back to the community, and support projects and organisations that are aligned with the values of project partners.

Projects will be positively considered for grant funding if they:

  • Demonstrate positive and lasting benefits to Gold Coast community, specifically in the southern part of Broadbeach, in Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, Miami and Burleigh Heads

  • Enhance community operations through programs, infrastructure or equipment

  • Can demonstrate they have encouraged or promoted sustainability

To administer the Community Fund, the project team has partnered with Bendigo-Adelaide Bank to facilitate the application process and distribute funds via the Bendigo-Adelaide Bank’s Community Enterprise Foundation.

Who can apply?

Community groups, sporting organisations and not-for-profit groups, located along or providing benefit to the community along the GCLR Stage 3 project alignment (Broadbeach south to Burleigh Heads, near the Gold Coast Highway).

When is the application period?

The application portal opened on Monday 29 January 2024 and will close on Friday 1 March 2024.

Submissions lodged outside this application period will not be considered unfortunately.

Does it cost money to apply?

No. Applying is free.

What is the total value of the fund?

The total Community Fund for Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 is $30,000.

How much can we apply for?

Community Fund allocations for successful applicants’ initiatives or projects are delivered in allotments of up to $3,000.

How will the recipients be decided?

The Bendigo-Adelaide Bank Community Enterprise Foundation team will first review applications under the criteria, before a panel of project stakeholders assesses the submissions that comply. All applicants will then be advised about the outcome.

Our organisation, club or group is not on the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 construction alignment. Can we apply?

Organisations located outside of the Broadbeach south to Burleigh Heads alignment can apply if their submission benefits the community in the areas along the alignment. Groups and organisations located outside the alignment area who benefit communities between Broadbeach south and Burleigh Heads are encouraged to apply. Groups and organisations located outside the alignment which do not benefit the community along the alignment will be ineligible unfortunately.

When will funds be distributed?

Funds are scheduled to be distributed in mid-2024.

How will we find out whether our submission was successful?

All applicants will be notified about the outcome by mid-2024.
